September in Leuven is traditionally the month for a fair. However, considerations have been ongoing due to the coronavirus pandemic. The conclusion by the city council therefore is, the Leuven fair will be held this year from 4 till 23 September. This edition will be corona proof with a maximum of 400 people at the same time.
Even though, at the moment, the number of coronavirus infections in Leuven is under control. Safety measures will be followed to avoid an unnecessary increase. Therefore, in order to ensure social distancing rules, a maximum of 200 people will be allowed on each square i.e. Ladeuzeplein and Hooverplein.
Monday, Tuesday and Thursday: from 4 pm to 10 pm at the latest
Wednesday and Sunday: from 2 pm to 10 pm at the latest
Friday: from 4 pm to 11 pm at the latest
Saturday: from 2 pm to 11 pm at the latest
In addition, there is no official opening, no parade, and no other activities planned in the city park. The venues of the fair (i.e. Ladeuzeplein and Hooverplein) will have an entrance and an exit. This would allow safe monitoring of the number of people coming into the squares. While inside the square, visitors will have to follow a walking direction. Wearing a mouth mask is mandatory at all times for visitors and traders.
All measures to contain the spread of the coronavirus must be respected by everyone. For more information, check the info page for the funfair.
